It’s time to embrace PROCRASTINATION!
The other day I posted a question about PROCRASTINATION. Not surprisingly, most of us responded with a “hell yes” and “that’s me” response. But here’s the thing I want you to think about — so get ready to shift your mindset. You must turn the prism so you can see things from a different perspective. You must work on changing the self-reproachful voices in your head because they are actually old voices and you are working from a default setting.
PROCRASTINATION ISN’T A BAD THING! Yup, you heard me right. Procrastinating — or not doing the things on your endless “to do” lists can be a really good thing. And that’s what I want you to focus on starting today. Instead of promising yourself that you will get all those pesky things done you don’t really want to do, think about what you want to do instead? Really ask yourself the question - What would I rather be doing instead?
Put your cellphone down for just a few minutes and let’s do a little test.
Start a “To Do” list that has room next to each item to write a word or a sentence about what you would rather be doing than “that thing”. And if it’s a big fat zero – KUDOS! Your mind and body are telling you something big. IT NEEDS SOME TIME TO REST.
Consider the list below and maybe you will shut off that nasty voice in your head that’s screaming at you for wasting time doing whatever you are doing right now - like reading my blog post???
1. Procrastination can help you relieve stress by giving your thoughts time to rummage around — even if you are poking around on social media.
2. Procrastination has a loud voice but we often drown it out with feeling badly. What might your procrastination trying be trying to tell you?
3.Procrastination can help you focus – As in not doing the tedious, annoying stuff so you can focus on what’s actually important to you.
4. Procrastination can help you determine what you would rather be doing. Isn’t it true that we will do the things we actually like doing? So, if you haven’t written this on your “To Do” list - here’s another space for you to do this.

Next time you aren’t doing what you think you are supposed to consider this:
Could you be giving your mind a rest? Thinking about new ideas? Evaluating a relationship?
Put an end to thoughts of being lazy, inefficient and unproductive because most, if not all of us do the real “have to’s” like eating, paying the bills that have to be paid, taking care of our children if we have them, etc.
Whatever doesn’t get done can be annoying and distressing (the house is a mess, we didn’t return some phone calls, finish our resumes, work on a new business idea, we didn’t go to the gym, the list goes on and on for most of us) When we fall into that mindset that we did something bad, we actually end up delaying the very things we put off. Negative stuff takes up a lot of space in your brain. Once you relieve ourselves of that, You can create a small space to get the tedious stuff taken care of. And honestly, most of that CAN be put off until tomorrow.
